We went to Kensington yesterday evening... such a relaxing place. The Cranes were more friendly than usual, begging for seed we brought for the songbirds.... following us closely like pets. And then we saw something new.... a tiny baby crane with it's parents walking down the road. It was only about 6" tall and all fuzzy. Hugh took a few pictures and off they went into the wetlands.
We also made a new friend, a chipmunk. He literally came to Hugh's feet and looked up at him, begging. Yes, they will eat right from your hands. I took a couple pics of that... will post later.
The deer were out and the herons were noisy in the rookery as night approached. I imagined they were trying to feed their families and get everyone ready for bed. lol It seems the process is the same for the entire animal kingdom.
For us, quiet time outdoors is good for the body, mind, soul and camera.
Find your quiet places... some close by to visit daily and some that take a little travel to get you out of your routine.
Sometimes you only get a few minutes, but aren't they glorious. (Daily I sit on the steps of our deck with Bear, listening to the birds sing and soaking up the early morning sun, with a cream laden cup of hot coffee )
From one friend to another: When you get quiet moments, hours or days, relish them and allow nature to renew your strength.
